Publishing Content

Publishing controls the published state of your content in Ekphrastic. It is separate from sharing. Publishing an item does not create a share link, and creating a share link does not publish an item.

Understanding this distinction is important when managing ROI models, resources and Collections.

What publishing does

When an item is published, Ekphrastic marks it as published and makes its published preview available from your workspace.

Publishing does not:

  • Create a share link

  • Create a tracked link

  • Send content to anyone

  • Create Buyer Engagement activity

Sharing is a separate action.

Publishing an ROI Model

ROI models can be either published or unpublished.

How a model begins depends on how you create it:

  • Created with AI — the model is automatically published when generation completes successfully.

  • Created manually — the new model starts unpublished.

You can change the publication state of a model from its workspace actions.

Publishing Resources

Uploaded Resources are processed by Ekphrastic after upload.

When processing completes successfully, the Resource is automatically published and becomes available for preview.

If processing fails, Ekphrastic notifies you and the failed Resource may be removed automatically.

Publishing Collections

Collections have their own publication state.

Creating a Collection does not automatically publish it. You can publish it when you're ready.

Publishing a Collection does not publish, unpublish or otherwise change the publication state of the individual ROI models and Resources contained within it.

Previewing published content

Workspace Preview is available for published content.

If you try to preview an unpublished item, Ekphrastic will indicate that the content is unpublished.

This is different from sharing. The Preview action checks publication state, while sharing is managed separately.

Unpublishing content

You can unpublish previously published content without deleting it.

Unpublishing does not delete:

  • The item from your workspace

  • Existing tracked links

  • Historical Buyer Engagement data

If you publish the item again later, existing tracked-link records and their historical analytics are retained.

Important: Unpublishing and deleting are different actions. Deleting content can permanently remove associated tracked links and engagement history.

Publishing vs sharing

Publishing and sharing serve different purposes.

Action
What it does

Publish

Changes the publication state of the content

Unpublish

Removes the content from its published state without deleting it

Preview

Lets you preview published content from the workspace

Share

Creates or provides a URL that can be shared with someone

Tracked Share

Creates a tracked link that can generate Buyer Engagement data

Publishing alone does not mean that anyone has received or viewed your content.

Likewise, sharing should not be used as an indication that an item has been published.

Deleting published content

Deleting content is different from unpublishing it.

When content is deleted, associated tracked links and their engagement history may also be permanently removed.

If you only want to remove something from its published state while keeping the content and its historical sharing records, use Unpublish rather than Delete.
