About the ROI Viewer

The ROI Viewer is the interactive experience your audience sees when they open a Calculator or ROI Model that you have published and shared from Ekphrastic.

It transforms your configured model into an interactive, calculation-driven experience where recipients can explore assumptions, adjust inputs and see the resulting impact immediately.

Rather than presenting a static business case, the ROI Viewer allows your audience to engage directly with the assumptions and outcomes that matter to them.

How the ROI Viewer works

Your model is created and configured within Ekphrastic. The ROI Viewer is responsible for presenting the published version to your recipients.

A typical experience follows a simple flow:

Your model → Recipient inputs → Calculations → Results

When a recipient changes an available input, dependent results are recalculated automatically. This allows the same model to reflect different customer circumstances, assumptions or scenarios without changing the underlying model.

For example, a recipient might adjust an organisation size, current operating cost or expected improvement and immediately see the effect on savings, ROI or payback.

Calculators and ROI Models

The ROI Viewer can be used to deliver both Calculators and ROI Models.

They use the same underlying interactive Viewer, but can provide different levels of experience depending on how you have designed and configured the model.

A Calculator might provide a focused interaction around a particular calculation or outcome.

An ROI Model can provide a broader business-case experience combining calculations with explanatory content, key metrics, supporting evidence and multiple sections.

There is no required structure for an ROI Model. You decide how the experience should be organised for your audience.

Guide recipients through your model

Models can be organised into multiple named sections to create a structured calculation flow.

For example, you could create:

Business Context → Current State → Assumptions → Business Impact → Results

Recipients can then progress through those sections while exploring the model.

Section names, order and content are determined by how you configure your model. Sections can also be displayed conditionally, allowing the experience to adapt to values or selections made by the recipient.

Tip: Use sections to create a logical journey through the business case rather than simply grouping fields together. A clear calculation flow can help recipients understand how their assumptions connect to the final outcome.

Present more than calculated numbers

The ROI Viewer can combine calculated results with supporting presentation content.

Depending on how your model has been configured, recipients may see:

  • Standard calculated metrics

  • Promoted KPI cards

  • Gauges

  • Charts

  • Tables

  • Narrative text

  • Expandable content

  • Tabbed results

  • Supporting resources and evidence

Narrative content can also incorporate live calculated values, allowing explanatory text to remain aligned with the recipient's current results.

This enables an ROI Model to communicate both the calculation and the business story behind it.

Supporting resources and evidence

You can complement your model with supporting resources such as PDFs, presentations and videos.

Resources can support the model as a whole or be associated with specific content and results.

For example, you might provide supporting evidence alongside a particular assumption or KPI so recipients can understand the basis for the information being presented.

When resources are available, recipients can access them directly from the ROI Viewer without interrupting the overall model experience.

Exploring different scenarios

The ROI Viewer can allow recipients to save different combinations of assumptions as scenarios.

This makes it possible to explore alternatives such as conservative, expected and higher-impact cases and compare their resulting inputs and outcomes.

Important: Saved scenarios are stored locally in the recipient's browser. They are specific to that browser and device and are not stored as shared Ekphrastic scenarios.

PDF reports

If PDF reporting is enabled for your model, recipients can generate a report from the Viewer.

The report reflects the current calculated state of the model. This means values changed by the recipient are incorporated into the report rather than the report simply reproducing the model's original default values.

This can turn an interactive modelling session into a useful document that recipients can retain or share internally.

Sharing the experience

Once published, your Calculator or ROI Model can be shared with recipients using the sharing options available in Ekphrastic.

Depending on your configuration, the experience can include capabilities such as:

  • Tracked or untracked viewing

  • Password protection

  • Presenter information

  • Supporting resources

  • PDF report generation

  • Ekphrastic branding

  • Embedded presentation within another website or application

This allows the same ROI Viewer to support anything from a focused public calculator to a richer, guided customer business-case experience.

Responsive experience

The ROI Viewer adapts its presentation for different screen sizes.

Content that appears in columns on larger displays can stack on smaller screens, while section navigation and Viewer controls adapt to provide a more suitable mobile experience.

When designing your model, it is still good practice to preview the published experience at different screen sizes—particularly when using multiple sections, columns, charts or larger tables.
