Sessions & Interactions

Sessions and interactions let you explore the activity behind the summary information shown in Buyer Engagement.

You can move from a tracked link into its individual sessions, then review the interactions recorded during a particular session.

What is a Session?

A Session represents a tracked visit through one of your tracked links.

When someone opens content using a tracked link and a tracked visit begins, Ekphrastic creates a Session for that activity.

A single tracked link can generate multiple Sessions.

For example, a link may have multiple Sessions if the shared content is opened on different occasions.

Important: A Session represents a period of tracked activity. It should not be interpreted as a unique person.

Ekphrastic does not independently identify the individual behind each Session.

Viewing Sessions

From Buyer Engagement, you can open the activity associated with a tracked link and view its Sessions.

The All Sessions view lets you examine individual Sessions rather than only looking at the overall engagement summary for the link.

This can help you understand whether engagement came from a single visit or from activity across multiple visits.

What are Interactions?

Interactions are supported actions recorded while someone is engaging with your shared content.

They provide more context than a Session count alone by showing activity that occurred during the Session.

The interactions recorded depend on:

• The type of content being viewed

• The features available within that content

• The actions Ekphrastic tracks

Not every action performed while viewing content necessarily creates an Interaction.

Viewing Session Interactions

Open an individual Session to access Session Interactions Analytics.

This view presents the recorded events for that Session in the order they occurred.

Reviewing the interaction sequence can help you understand how someone engaged with the content during that particular Session.

For example, rather than seeing only that a Session occurred, you may be able to see that supported actions were performed during it.

Interactions and Intent

Some recorded Interactions contribute to Ekphrastic's Intent signal.

Different supported interaction types can contribute differently to the overall Intent classification.

This means a higher number of Interactions does not necessarily produce the same Intent result in every case. The type of Interaction matters as well as the quantity.

Intent should therefore be considered alongside the underlying Interactions rather than viewed as an isolated score.

Interactions and Engagement Time

Interactions and Engagement Time are related analytics concepts, but they measure different things.

Interactions represent supported actions recorded during a Session.

Engagement Time represents measured engagement activity accumulated during tracked Sessions.

A Session can therefore provide several different signals about engagement rather than a single measure.

Multiple Sessions

A tracked link can accumulate multiple Sessions over time.

Multiple Sessions may indicate that the link has been opened on multiple occasions, but they do not establish that the same person returned.

For example:

• One person could open the same tracked link several times.

• A tracked link could be forwarded and opened by someone else.

• Both situations could result in additional Sessions associated with the same link.

Buyer Engagement attributes the activity to the tracked link rather than independently identifying the people behind those Sessions.

Sessions within Collections

Collections can contain multiple ROI Models and Resources.

When someone accesses content from within a tracked Collection, Ekphrastic can record activity involving that content as part of the Collection engagement journey.

This allows engagement with content inside the Collection to contribute to the analytics associated with the Collection's tracked link.

The individual pieces of content remain separate items in your Ekphrastic workspace.

Interpreting Session activity

Sessions and Interactions are most useful when interpreted together with the wider context of the tracked link.

Consider:

• The number of Sessions

• Engagement Time

• The Interactions recorded

• The type of content being explored

• The Intent signal

For example, several Sessions containing meaningful Interactions may provide a stronger indication of engagement than simply knowing that a link was opened.

However, these signals describe recorded activity through the tracked link. They do not prove why someone performed an action or what they intend to do next.

No Interactions showing?

A Session does not necessarily need to contain a supported Interaction.

If a Session appears without the interactions you expected, consider whether:

• The activity performed is one Ekphrastic tracks as an Interaction.

• The content was accessed through the tracked journey.

• The person performed an action beyond simply accessing the content.

If no Sessions are appearing at all, check that the content was shared using a tracked link.

Activity from untracked links does not appear in Buyer Engagement.
